Homemade Leave-In Hair Conditioner for Black Hair

Recipe 1


  • Three tablespoon aloe vera gel
  • One tablespoon glycerine
  • One tablespoon coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon honey


Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl and stir well to make sure that the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Wash your hair as usual with a natural shampoo and finish it off by applying the leave-in conditioner starting from the mid-lengths to the ends. Lastly, take a small amount in your palm and apply it near the roots.  

Recipe 2


  • ½ cup shea butter
  • One tablespoon argon oil
  • One teaspoon melted coconut oil
  • 10-15 drops of essential oils of your choice


Mix shea butter and argan oil together and melt it using a double boiler method. Remove it from heat and let it cool, however, don’t let it solidify. Now, whip it using a hand mixer and add the other ingredients to the mix. You may skip adding the essential oils but we recommend not skipping the step as the oils will provide additional benefits. You can use a combination of tea-tree, castor, and/or lavender essential oil. Store it in an airtight container in a cool place and apply when required, preferably on damp hair. 

Recipe 3


  • 1 ½ cups water
  • Three tablespoons marshmallow root
  • 1 ½ tablespoon avocado oil
  • One tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Five drops lavender or other aromatic essential oil
  • One teaspoon glycerine


Fill a pan with water and bring it to a boil before adding the marshmallow root. Let the root boil in the water for about 15 minutes and strain it afterward. Mix all the ingredients in the water and let it cool. Add it to the spray bottle and use it to smoothen out frizzy and curly hair anytime. Now mix all the other ingredients. Let it cool and pour in a spray bottle. Use it whenever needed to smoothen out frizzy and curly hair. 

Recipe 4


  • ¾ cup of coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon jojoba oil
  • One tablespoon avocado oil
  • One teaspoon honey
  • Four drops of ylang-ylang oil or other essential oil of your choice.


Melt the oils in a double boiler and mix in the coconut milk. Whip the ingredients till they get a cream-like consistency. Add the remaining ingredients and store the conditioner in a container. in a bottle. Apply a small amount every time you feel like using it when your hair gets frizzy. This helps in taming frizzy hair, thereby providing a smooth texture.
