Many people advise using a lip balm daily to overcome dryness in the lip tissues. Apart from soothing dryness, they protect your lips against the harmful UV rays. The petroleum jelly in your balm creates a watertight barrier, which protects your internal skin from the harshness of the environment.

Why Using Lip Balm is Necessary

The most primary reason to use a lip balm is to seal in the natural moisture of your lips and protect them from harmful exposure. It prevents your lip skin from dry air, cold temperature, and wind. Make lip balm a habit, and you’ll see that the texture of your lips will improve. Now the question is how often you should apply the balm? Apply lip balm as frequently and even before applying lipstick. You need six to eight coats of lip balm a day to protect them. If it’s inconvenient for you, choose a product that stays a little longer than usual. An even better option is to DIY a lip balm with Vaseline and honey at home to avoid using chemicals.
