Pests are super annoying, and fleas are considered to be one of the most annoying among them. They are so small that they maneuver around quickly and are so agile that it is tough to get a hold of them. Fleas usually flourish during warmer climates and humid environments. Adult fleas usually live for a few weeks to months and wait for better environmental conditions to develop so that they can start finding a host to feed on. Fleabites can cause a lot of irritation and even cause bleeding if severe. These fleas usually feed on the blood of animals, humans, and birds, and they move around from jumping on one person to the other.

If you have pets in your house, your home might become infested with fleas because your pets end up bringing these parasites home with them. They are so tiny that they can easily hide inside your upholstery, and you wouldn’t even get to know if you have a flea infestation. They come with armored bodies that are impossible to crush. Also, to protect themselves, these fleas hide under the carpets and other untraceable corners. This makes it difficult to detect or find them.

Once a flea infestation occurs in your home, you might notice them jumping from your furniture to your curtains and in your carpets. When your pet is scratching their fur and body, there’s a great chance that the fleas are the culprit.

What Causes Flea Infestation?

Fleas cause such a nuisance that they easily hop from one pet to another without being noticed. These fleas reproduce and end up hiding in your bedding, furniture, and floor cracks. Flea infestations occur in places that are warm and humid. So, it is more likely to occur in houses that don’t have adequate ventilation or have corners and nooks that don’t have air circulation. In addition to that, if you have pets at home, that increases the chances of infestation.

There’s a simple and effective way to get rid of these pests from your carpets, that is to use dawn dish soap for fleas in carpet. Dawn Dish soap comes with the ability to kill fleas within a few minutes, making it the most effective way of getting rid of them. All you have to do is lather some of the dawn dish soap with water and scrub it onto the carpet and watch the magic happen in front of your eyes.

Flea Infestation in Pets

If your pet has a flea infestation, give it a bath with 4 drops of dawn dish soap in lukewarm water. Even though dawn dish soap works like magic for flea removal, you should be cautious while using it on pets as too much of it can cause irritation in pets. Used in small quantities or moderately, dawn soap is considered safe and non-toxic for all your pets.

Why Does it Work

Fleas have exoskeletons that give them the ability to float and survive in water. So, if you plan to drown these hard to catch pests, your efforts will go in vain. However, dawn dish soap creates surface tension on their skeletons, compromising their skeletons and killing them by drowning them in the soapy water.

Does Dawn Soap Only Kill the Eggs or Live Fleas?

The method or product works better on adult fleas as they have developed exoskeletons. However, if you thoroughly rinse and scrub the carpets, tons of flea larvae end up dying immediately. So, dawn dish soap can partially eliminate flea eggs as well.

Before you choose this method of getting rid of fleas, you must understand that using it repeatedly can end up damaging your carpets and your pet animals. Therefore, once you do it, make sure your house is clean, and there isn’t a recurrence of this infestation because it will lead to bigger problems and damages to fix.
